SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. —
Crews will begin work on a dangerous stretch of road in north Fulton County on Monday.
Many have been complaining about Brandon Mill Road in Sandy Springs for months, but it will be no overnight fix. Drivers have said it is dangerous coming over a hill toward Abernathy Road.
Last year, the Georgia Department of Transportation repaved Brandon Mill, but crews put in so much asphalt, drivers going south have had a hard time seeing traffic coming north.
Crews will now shave off a few feet on the road. In the meantime, the road will be closed from Abernathy Road to River Springs Drive.
"We want to make sight distances as good as we can. It's never going to be perfect there because of the grade of the road," GDOT’s Mark McKinnon said.
There will be signs to warn drivers about the road closures. Construction is expected to last up to two months.
