COVINGTON, Ga. —

A woman was shot and killed while driving her truck on Friday morning, Covington police said.

Police are still looking for the man who they said opened fire into the truck on Highway 81 in Newton County.

News Chopper 2 flew over the scene where crime scene tape surrounded a gas station where the truck crashed after the shooting.

Covington police told Channel 2's Erin Coleman they are looking for 47-year-old Hannibal Wayne McMullen. Investigators told Coleman they had been in contact with McMullen, and they believed he was still in the area.

"He's concerned. (He) seems very scared right now. Again, we're just attempting to negotiate a peaceful resolution to this by him turning himself in," said Capt. Ken Malcom.

Police said the victim, 26-year-old Ketitra Jones, and McMullen had a relationship that ended several months ago. She filed a temporary order of protection against him.

"She was a very sweet girl. She didn't bother anybody. Every time she saw you she'd have a big smile on her face. She worked at Walmart and would greet you with a smile," said Annette Victor. Victor was one of dozens of onlookers who stood by as Covington police questioned witnesses. The Georgia State Patrol was also at the scene.

Police told Coleman that McMullen owns a detail shop in town. They are looking for his car, a blue Toyota Corolla with Georgia tag BRJ-7930.
