Convicted child molester accused of 2nd attack

A registered sex offender was caught sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy, Paulding County deputies said.

The alleged attack happened at a home on Baywood Crossing in Hiram around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies said witnesses confronted 19-year-old Demetrius Cortez Jones, but he took off.

Deputies called in detectives and U.S. Marshals to search the area. Several hours later, Jones was arrested near a set of railroad tracks on Angtham Road.

Jones was charged with aggravated child molestation and aggravated sodomy. Last year, he was convicted of child molestation in Cobb County and registered with the Sex Offender Registry.

Jones is being held at the Paulding County Detention Center without bond.
