DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —

A community is in mourning after a crash in New Jersey killed three members of a metro Atlanta family.

The family was involved in a crash with a tractor trailer along the New Jersey Turnpike in Mount Laurel on Thursday, and only one relative survived. Friends said the family is originally from Jamaica and was heading home for the holidays after visiting family in Connecticut.

Stone Mountain resident Ainsworth Mallett, along with his wife, Jaqueline, and son, Drew, died at the scene, but police said 18-year-old daughter Nikki survived. Police are still investigating what caused the tractor trailer to strike the back of the family’s Toyota Camry.

Channel 2’s Rachel Stockman went to DeKalb County where days later, a memorial is growing outside the family's business. Friends said the family worked hard to open the Golden Krust Carribbean restaurant on Rockbridge Road.

"We are really going to miss them. They will be dearly missed," family friend Aubrey Childs said.

There is no word yet on funeral arrangements.
