Police have yet to identify a body found in a burning car in southwest Atlanta over the weekend but said the car belongs to a missing Covington man.
Firefighters found the car burning behind a vacant house on Westmond Road on Saturday. Firefighters then found a body in the trunk of the Infiniti M35, but it was so badly burned investigators couldn’t even tell the gender at the time.
Atlanta police said the car belongs to 49-year-old Gregory Vernon Harris. On Friday, Harris’ sister reported him missing in Newton County, adding that his personal items were thrown around his home.
