Investigators have identified a man found dead at a Chamblee restaurant parking lot, but they are still looking for the driver of a blue SUV believed to be connected with the crime.

Chamblee police said Yannick Medjo-Medjo, 34, of Stone Mountain was found early Saturday outside of the Mad Italian restaurant on Savoy Drive near Interstate 285. Medjo-Medjo, who had a gunshot wound to the torso, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Outside the restaurant, Channel 2’s Ashley Swann found investigators combing through several pieces of evidence, including sunglasses and shoes that were left behind.

Mad Italian restaurant manager Jeremy Brown and an employee were the only people inside of the business at about 7 a.m. when they discovered the body in the parking lot.

"I don't think anybody should have to suffer what that that man suffered this morning," said Brown, still shaken up by the situation.

Investigators said witnesses saw a blue SUV speed away from the scene.  They are still looking for that vehicle believed to be a Ford Expedition.

"We're asking for the public's help; any information they can give us. We need to identify this person," said Chamblee Police Capt. Michael Beller.

Police are also trying to determine where the shooting happened, as it appears the shooting did not occur in the restaurant parking lot.

Despite the tragedy, Brown tries to assure customers that safety is a priority at his restaurant, which is a popular spot for families in the area.

"It's just a tragic event. We're sorry it happened.  We just want people to know it's still a safe place to come and bring their family and have a good meal," Brown said.
