LOGANVILLE, Ga. —

A 5-year-old Loganville boy made a call to 911 when a sudden illness left his mother and grandmother doubled over in pain.

"I've never experienced anything like this,"
Kimberly Love told Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh.

Love and her daughter, Demetria, aren't sure if they had food poisoning or a bad virus last Thursday, but they were in so much pain neither could reach the phone, so Caleb Sims sprang into action.

"I know how to call 911 because it's just three numbers," Caleb told Kavanaugh.

"I told the operator how old they are and how old I am," he said. Caleb also knew his exact address and his mother's phone number. As a Gwinnett County dispatcher sent an ambulance, Caleb remained on the phone and described his mother and grandmother's condition.

Kavanaugh obtained a recording of the 911 call.

"Do you know if they're breathing normally?" the operator asked.

"No. They're breathing a little hard normal. They have pain. They have pain," Caleb responded.

"I called 911," Caleb told the operator.

"You did, you did a good job," she said. "And you know that's for emergencies."

"This was an emergency at my house," Caleb said.

"That's right," the operator responded.

Caleb's mother said his actions made her really appreciate how important it is to make sure children know their address, phone numbers and what to do in an emergency.

Caleb said he's fine with the extra attention his heroics have earned him.

"It's so great to be a hero because it's like saving people," he said.
