ATLANTA —

The mother of a Georgia woman, who said her daughter disappeared one year ago this week, is asking for the public’s help in finding her.

Kelli Cribbs Abad, 27, lived in Okinawa, Japan with her husband, an Air Force sergeant, and their two kids when she vanished about one year ago.

Channel 2's Diana Davis interviewed Abad’s mother, Janice Cribbs. Cribbs said the last time she spoke with her daughter was a year ago this week using Skype, an online interaction service.

“I never thought that might be the last time I talked to her or saw her, so it’s been very difficult,” Cribbs said.

Abad’s car was discovered near a Japanese air base a few days later. But there was no sign of Abad. Her mother went to Japan looking for answers but is still no closer to resolving the disappearance.

Japanese authorities and Air Force officials said they’re still investigating, but the trail has gone cold.

“The not knowing is worse than what anything anyone could tell me,” Cribbs said.  “I had rather know that they saw something that was terrible because we could move forward, (or) help give me  some answers to what happened or where she is or if she's alive or not.”

Abad’s husband and children have since returned to the United States.  When asked if Abad’s husband might have had anything to do with her daughter’s disappearance, Cribbs said:

“I have no knowledge of that.  I do know we can see the kids on Skype several times a week (and) that he is providing well for them (and) taking good care of them,”Cribbs said.

Cribbs said it’s too painful to think about her grandchildren growing up without their mother.  The thought of their loss makes the search for her daughter even more crucial.

Cribbs asked anyone with information to call 912-823-3404 or send an email to FINDKELLINOW@YAHOO.COM   Click here to offer support on Facebook for Kelli Cribbs Abad.
