Grief Counselors Available Monday At Midtown Law Firm After Murder-Suicide

ATLANTA —

Police are investigating a murder-suicide outside the Bank of America Plaza on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta.

The shooting happened just after 3 p.m. Friday at 600 Peachtree Street on Bank of America property near a courtyard area.

"After the man and woman were talking for awhile a verbal altercation took place and then a physical altercation took place," said Ron Campbell with the Atlanta Police Department.

Campbell told Channel 2's Ashley Hayes the male held the female down and shot her before shooting himself. Atlanta police confirmed they are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as Raven Buckley, 25, of Alpharetta. The man was identified as Jermaine Acevedo, 30, of Snellville.

Police said they do not yet know if there was a relationship between them or whether they worked in the building.

The Bank of America building was placed on lockdown for almost two hours after the incident. Police began to let employees leave the building around 5 p.m.
