Georgia Man Offers Hookers Free Bus Tickets

BRUNSWICK, Ga. —

A Brunswick business owner fed up with prostitutes in his town has decided to do something about it.

Residents in the city said prostitutes walk the road near the intersection of Norwich and L streets night and day. Now, in an effort to clean up their neighborhood, the owners of owns Otto Johnson Motor Company have made an offer to buy a bus ticket for any prostitute to get out of town.

The Johnson's said prostitutes proposition and bother their customers, and it's time for them to go.

"If they get put in jail for prostitution and they want to get out of town, we will buy them a bus ticket as long as they promise they won’t come back and mess up our little town here," said Jessie Johnson.

Johnson's brother owns the car lot. He said they want to ship out the prostitutes.

"Send them to Las Vegas. It's legal out there, you know. If they want to be a prostitute, go where prostitution is legal. Get the drugs and the prostitution off our streets. This is the only thing we can think that is actually getting some attention," Johnson said.

May people in the area agreed, saying they know that prostitution is a problem.

"They even get picked up right here every now and then or we have to run them off. Its not good," said Bobby Farris, who works in the area.

He said he has been attacked in the neighborhood, and he admires the fact that someone wants to do something. However, Farris said he's not sure the car dealership's approach will work.

"They probably will just pawn the bus ticket or something. Or that and get another bus ticket back into town," Farris said.

Jeff Mitchell agreed with Farris. He said giving the prostitutes a bus ticket is only a temporary solution.

"They may disappear for a little while, but they'll come right back," Mitchell said.

The Johnson family said they announced the plan to give prostitutes bus tickets out of town on Wednesday. They've already received a call from one woman who said she was interested in the free ticket.
