NEWNAN, Ga. —

Surviving a fatal plane crash is a life-changing experience for Sarah Conklin and her boyfriend, Joshua Rumohr, both 18.

The single-engine aircraft piloted by Fulton County Juvenile Court Judge Sanford Jones was transporting Conklin, Rumohr and 19-year-old Sasha Medina from Destin, Fla., when it crashed Friday just before noon in an east Alabama hayfield. Medina and Jones died upon impact.

The passengers knew each other from church. Conklin and Rumohr returned home to Newnan. With minor injuries, Conklin calls their survival "a miracle," saying, "It was all God. I honestly believe that."

Conklin -- and many others -- left tributes on Medina's Facebook page. He attended the University of West Georgia.

In a tearful service Sunday at First Baptist Church of Newnan, the survivors gave thanks and honored the victims.

"We're really thankful to be alive, we're blessed, and I want to thank everyone who's been praying for us," Rumohr said.

Conklin said her body is recovering "but emotionally I'm hurting. I lost a good friend."

Going to church and being surrounded by friends "was very helpful," she said.

"It was overwhelming to have that support," added Rumohr.

One of Medina's friends, Casey Sherman, said Medina's final moments "exemplified him fully."

"He always gave his utmost to serve others," Sherman said. "He would do anything for his friends."

Jones' funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairburn.

Medina's funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Newnan.

"Every day I live I will remember him because he did everything he could to protect us and put us before himself," Conklin said of Jones.

Federal officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
