Foster Mother Charged In Death Of Baby Left In Hot Car

JACKSON COUNTY, Ga. —

A Jackson County woman has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after officials said she left her 9-month-old foster daughter in a hot car.

A grand jury indicted Wendy Osborne, 29, in connection with the death of Jessica Scovil.

On Sept. 2, Osborne failed to realize she left Jessica in her van, according to a police report. It was a day when temperatures reached 85 degrees.

The indictment states that Osborne did cause Jessica's death "without any intention to do so."

Involuntary manslaughter carries a sentence of one to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.
