Fleeing Robbery Suspects Crash Into Family Van

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —

Police arrested two men but were looking for a third after an overnight police chase that ended when robbery suspects smashed into a family’s minivan.

Conyers police say employees at a Mellow Mushroom restaurant noticed a car casing their business late Wednesday night.

Police told Channel 2’s Darryn Moore when they arrived, the vehicle raced off.

"We ran the tag the car came back as wanted in a car-jacking out of the city of Decatur," said Chief Gene Wilson.

The pursuit ended in a crash at the corner of Panola and Redan roads in DeKalb County.

"All I know is I was in the wrong place at the wrong time," said Cantina Felker. The impact of the crash smashed in the front end of Felker’s minivan.

"But it was good that they hit us that way. My baby was sitting in that portion of the seat," said Felker.

Felker told Moore her 2-year-old child was only shaken up, but her other daughter suffered minor injuries from the airbag.

Police immediately arrested two men after the crash. They were looking for a third man on Thursday morning.

Detectives from the city of Decatur were questioning the men about the carjacking and other crimes, according to Moore.
