Parents at Dacula Middle School contacted Channel 2 Action News about the threat of an apparent gun on campus.

One parent said she wasn’t happy about the way the school system handled the threat.

“I was furious. I started to cry and I called the school immediately,” said parent Michelle Fernandez.

The Facebook page posting warned that someone would be bringing a gun to school.

Fernandez said she panicked when she heard about it and immediately called the school. She said she was angry that school officials did not notify parents about the posting.

“It’s a threat. It’s not something you take lightly,” said Fernandez.

The threat was made on a Facebook page that is dedicated to the school, and it was specifically made against eighth-graders.

School officials said when they learned of the threat they immediately took steps to shut down the Facebook page. Because school officials did not have any information that the threat was legitimate, they said they didn’t feel it was necessary to alert parents.

School officials are investigating who was behind the posting.
