Driver Killed In Piedmont Road Crash

COBB COUNTY, Ga. —

A busy Marietta street was closed for almost five hours after a deadly crash early Wednesday morning.

Police said the driver of a Chevrolet S-10 pickup somehow lost control on Piedmont Road and smashed into a tree in Marietta. The driver was killed.

The single-car crash forced police to shut down the road between Shaw and Rio Court for nearly five hours. The road has since been reopened.

Traffic investigators have not said what caused the fatal accident or who was behind the wheel. Police described the driver as a man in his early 20's.
