Grogan said the city of Dunwoody currently relies on DeKalb County to provide police service.
Grogan said the city is on schedule to take over police service April 1.
"Residents are anxiously awaiting the start of the department," said Grogan.
Among those in attendance at Saturday's job fair was Annel Contreras.
"I'm excited about it. It's a new city, it seems like it's going to be community-oriented and that's what I'm used to," said Contreras, who said her experience includes work for the University of Georgia Police Department.
"I just finished school and got my degree. I'm ready to get a job and get out there," said Contreras.
Grogan said the city of Dunwoody hopes to attract the best candidates by offering a take-home car program and a housing stipend for officers who live in the city of Dunwoody.
"The council was gracious enough to allow a $2,000 signing bonus for officers who go to work for the department. With a competitive salary and benefits, we think it's a great place to work," said Grogan.
