Double Shooting At Atlanta Starbucks; Shooter 'Staked Out' Cafe

Victim Is Former Atlanta City Attorney

ATLANTA —

Atlanta police are on the lookout for a man witnesses said walked into a southwest Atlanta Starbucks and shot two customers.

The incident, which happened in the 3600 block of Cascade Road, left former Atlanta city attorney Clifford Hardwick injured. Witnesses said the shooting was targeted at Hardwick.

Starbucks customer Karmen Sneed has no doubt Hardwick was the intended victim.

“The shooter called him out, shot him, and the bullet ricocheted and hit the guy next to me who was observing my chess game,” said Sneed.

The other injured patron is identified as Timothy Strayhorn, whose wife told WSB-TV off camera that Strayhorn is expected to recover.

“I heard the shooter staked the place. He circled Starbucks and when he observed his target, he parked, walked, put on a bandana and fired,” said Sneed.

Fulton County police said they are looking for a white older model Chevy Impala or Caprice last seen leaving the area Wednesday night.

Several of the more than 20 customers in the Starbucks got a good look at the gunman.

At last check, Hardwick remained at Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Starbucks issued a statement Thursday stating their thoughts are with the families of the injured customers, and that the company is fully cooperating with police.

Starbucks is closed until further notice.
