DOORBUSTERS: Suspects Smash Van Into Store

ATLANTA —

Two would-be thieves turned a southwest Atlanta convenience store into a drive-through Thursday morning.

RYAN YOUNG REPORTS: Thieves Crash Van Into Store

The men smashed a mini-van through the front doors of the Tire Doctor convenience store at 2064 Perkerson Road.

"I saw the green van swooping around in the parking lot and ran straight through into the store," said witness Tabitha Lock.

"It scared me to death."

A police officer on patrol just blocks from the store heard the crash and rushed to the scene.

"When they broke into the store, the police pulled up," said Lock.

The two suspects jumped into a second van and took off.

Police arrested both men when they wrecked their getaway vehicle just blocks from the store.

Nothing was stolen from the Tire Doctor store.

The owner said he will be open for business on Thursday morning, with a huge hole in the front of the building.
