LOGANVILLE, Ga. —
Deputies went to a Loganville residence on Langley Creek Drive Monday to handle a routine eviction when they discovered the dogs.
Officials said three dogs were living in muddy and feces-covered kennels outside.
When deputies observed the dogs, two of them -- a Rottweiler and a pit bull -- appeared to be so malnourished that their skeletal systems could clearly be seen. The third dog, another pit bull, did not appear to be malnourished, but was living in the same bad conditions, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.
Animal control officers advised deputies they would be issuing three citations for animal cruelty against 39-year-old Derrick Wright.
Wright was taken into custody by Gwinnett County deputies and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail on the citations.
He posted a $405 cash bond and was released the same day.
