DeKalb Psychiatrist Accused Of Sexual Misconduct With Patient

DUNWOODY, Ga. —

A DeKalb County psychiatrist accused of sexual misconduct with a patient was arrested Thursday, according to a representative for the district attorney’s office.

Dr. Seth Pope, a registered psychiatrist, was indicted on one count of unlawful prescription for allegedly giving a drug for illegitimate purposes and one count of sexual assault involving a patient.

Channel 2 Action News Reporter Linda Stouffer learned that Pope was in jail on a $100,000 bond. Authorities told Stouffer that the alleged incident happened between May 2006 and February 2007.

Stouffer also spoke with the victim's attorney by phone Thursday. He said the victim, a woman in her 40s, had been sexually assaulted nine times over the course of one year.

When Stouffer visited Pope's office Thursday, the doors were locked and the lights were turned off. The office, located on the Peachford Hospital campus, had a sign on the door that stated, "Dr. Pope had a family emergency and all appointments have been canceled until further notice."
