Connecticut School Of Broadcasting Closes

HARTFORD, Conn. —

A broadcasting school with classes in two metro Atlanta locations aburptly closed its doors this week.

The Connecticut School of Broadcasting blamed its financial woes on a tightening in the private student loan market. Tuition for 16-week courses is as much as $12,000.

The school has locations in Dunwoody and Lawrenceville.

The school says it's surprised that its lender, Pittsburgh-based PNC Financial, seized control of the school's accounts as it was attempting to come up with alternatives to continue to fund the business.

PNC officials say they don't comment on their customers or their accounts. But they say the company continues to extend credit to "qualified borrowers."

The school operates 26 campuses in 16 states, including Georgia. It was founded in Connecticut in 1964 by a Hartford broadcaster.
