College Student Vanishes; Police Begin Search

CARROLLTON, Ga. —

The disappearance of a local college student is puzzling police and her family. Investigators worked through the night to set a strategy to search for the missing University of West Georgia student Wednesday.

Marcelle Elliott, 21, disappeared after visiting friends on Lovvorn Road in Carrollton Thursday night, her family said. Family members said Elliot was home for the summer in Cobb County and vanished while leaving one friend's place to see another.

Investigators said they have recovered Elliot’s car. It was found parked in the same spot where she left it while in Carrollton, authorities said. Police said they have no reason to suspect foul play but that they aren’t ruling anything out. There hasn't been any phone or debit card use on Elliot's accounts since Thursday, police said.
