LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. —
Holiday season thieves have snatched hundreds of dollars' worth of inflatable Christmas displays from the lawn of a Gwinnett County homeowner.
Mike Turner, of Lawrenceville, told Channel 2's Tom Regan he woke up early Saturday and discovered four displays had been stolen and one torn when some tried to yank it out of the ground.
"All the kids loved the Grinch, and now the Grinch is gone." said Turner.
Turner showed Regan his expansive display of thousands of lights. He said it took about 60 hours to put up the display. He said the inflatables were a huge hit with children, who pour into the neighborhood with their parents every night.
"There's probably a couple of hundred of kids who come to look at the decorations. And to think that someone has the right to come into the yard and take something, and take it away from the kids. It's just disappointing," Turner said.
Neighbors said it's upsetting to them as well.
"For him it's a real labor of love. And for someone to steal that … it's a real bah humbug" neighbor Teshea Ferguson said.
"It makes you heart hurt that someone could do that," Lori Turner said.
Mike Turner said he has filed a police report and hopes someone will turn in the display bandits.
