Police have new hope that they can figure out what happened to a missing teenager, because of what a detective saw on Channel 2 Action News and WSBTV.com.

Sabah Karriem Conner was 16 years old when she disappeared in July 2000.

"She dropped off the face of the Earth," East Point Police Capt. Russell Popham said, who has been working the case for a decade.

He showed Channel 2's Linda Stouffer the lengthy case file.

Popham said he believes Conner was a teenage prostitute connected with a man later convicted of trafficking, Michael "Hollywood" Davis.

"She has a tattoo on her right arm. It says 'Miss Hollywood,' that is very significant because she was a child prostitute and Hollywood was the name of her pimp in 2000," Popham said.

After Popham saw a recent interview Stouffer did with another former child sex slave in Atlanta, he reached out to the woman for clues.

"She was able to give me some information, and then just based on your story -- some information came through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children," Popham said.

Conner's family has now moved out of state.

Popham said he will not give up, though he fears the girl was killed.

"The right thing to do is to continue working the case. Look at it as if that was your family member: the family wants answers, and I want answers. There needs to be justice in the case," Popham said.
