Brunswick Man Charged With Killing His Mother

BRUNSWICK, Ga. —

A man has been charged with murder in the death of his own mother.

Police arrested Anthony Howard, 34, of Brunswick, around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

The arrest came nearly six hours after the body of Diane Parker, 52, was found in an upstairs bedroom of her home, Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said.

Investigators found that Parker's death resulted from "obvious trauma," but declined to say how they believe she was killed. Parker, who lived alone, had been dead at least 24 hours when police found her body, Doering said.

Police were asked to check on Parker by a relative who said she had not been seen in a few days.

Investigators later found Howard in his mother's car in the parking lot of an apartment complex. He was arrested without incident, police said.

Citing the ongoing investigation, Doering would not comment on a motive in the killing.

Howard has been charged with murder, robbery, theft by taking a motor vehicle and two counts of financial transaction card fraud.
