ATLANTA —
Astin is the target of a federal investigation. It started as a Fayette County investigation related to the death of the Benoit family. Now, authorities said, it is a completely separate federal investigation which has prompted the second search warrant and the raids.
Officials used a battering ram to break into Astin's office.
Authorities told Channel 2's Ross Cavitt the raid is a follow-up to the previous raid on Astin's office Wednesday.
Chuvalo Truesdell with the DEA said, "We are following up on leads from the search warrant the other night."
Officials said they did not have an arrest warrant for Astin.
"We are investigating other leads that we cannot comment on at this time," said Truesdell.
Astin's office has been closed since Wednesday.
Channel 2 photographer Tracy Reeves reports DEA agents also entered Astin's mother's home. Reeves said he had been at the house all day and had seen no sign that anyone was home.
Fan Charged After Throwing Rocks At Neighbor
Fayette County deputies arrested 45-year-old Teresa Kimbrell after she drove all the way from North Carolina to the home of her favorite wrestler, Chris Benoit.
She was charged with simple battery and disorderly conduct after a neighbor said Kimbrell swore at him and threw rocks at him because he wouldn’t talk to her about the Benoits.
The neighbor said she was drunk.
According to the police report, Kimbrell said the neighbor was rude and refused to speak with her.
“This is a case that raises lots and lots of curiosity,” said District Attorney Scott Ballard.
Benoit's Father Says Son Was 'Fine'
Chris Benoit's father said Friday there were no signs of trouble between his wrestler son and his daughter-in-law.
In an exclusive interview with WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Regan, Michael Benoit said his son was "fine" on Father's Day, the last time they spoke.
Over the weekend Chris Benoit murdered both his wife and son, and then committed suicide, according to police.
Talking from his home in Ardrossan, Alberta, Canada Benoit discounted theories that steroid use was behind the gruesome crime.
"There's a lot of stories we know have been fabricated," he said.
Federal drug agents and Fayette County sheriff deputies raided Chris Benoit's doctor's office Wednesday.
Dr. Phil Astin admits prescribing testosterone for Benoit.
Reaching out to Nancy Benoit's family he told Regan "We pray desperately that Nancy's family is able to deal with this situation."
Nancy Benoit filed for divorce from Chris Benoit several years ago and asked for a restraining order against her husband. She later withdrew both legal actions.
