Atlanta Teen Shot, Killed While Running Errand To Buy Ice

Victim's Father Owns Metro Atlanta Recording Studio

ATLANTA —

Atlanta police are investigating a shooting that killed the son of a recording studio owner.

Authorities said Adair Freeman, 19, was shot to death while running an errand to buy ice early Saturday morning.

Investigators said the teen was gunned down at about 2 a.m. in the Shell gas station parking lot at the corner of Spring and 14th streets.

Police said the convenience store is located next door to Hot Beats Recording Studios, where the teen was working with his father.

Atlanta police told WSB-TV that the incident may have been a robbery attempt.

According to a MySpace page for Hot Beats Recording Studios, clients include a number of well-known artists ranging from Atlanta’s own Ludacris to Nelly, Lil Wayne and Matchbox Twenty.

Police said they are working to obtain surveillance video from nearby businesses that may have captured the crime on tape.

Freeman would have turned 20 years old in February.
