Atlanta Auto Show Preview

 
Do you need a new car? Are you interested in checking out the cars of tomorrow? Do you just want to check out some expensive rides? Don't Miss the Atlanta Auto Show Preview airing March 3rd at 1pm and March 10th at 12:30pm on Channel 2.

The show gets you ready for the upcoming Atlanta Auto Show. The auto show itself runs March 10th thru the 18th at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The Atlanta International Auto Show will celebrate its 25th Anniversary when it returns to the Georgia World Congress Center on March 10-18, 2007.

“The Atlanta show has definitely grown and prospered since its first event at the Congress Center in 1983,” said Shayne Wilson, President of the Metro Atlanta Automobile Dealers Association. “Our show floor is almost four times larger than it was 25 years ago. The Atlanta show is now one of the 10 largest shows in the United States, with over 600 new vehicles on display from 39 different manufacturers.”

The Atlanta International Auto Show is also the largest automotive event for the Metro Atlanta dealers, featuring a wide variety of styles, including luxury vehicles, economy cars, sports cars, exotics, hybrids, alternative fuel vehicles, limited production cars, concepts, convertibles, vans, light trucks and 4-wheel drive vehicles.

The following manufacturers will be exhibiting at the Auto Show:

Acura, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jaguar, JEEP, KIA, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln-Mercury, Maybach, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pontiac, SAAB, Saturn, Scion, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.

The show will also feature an impressive selection of special vehicles, including concept cars, pre-production vehicles, exotics and specialty vehicles.

To date, the following concept vehicles are scheduled for display: Acura Advanced Car Concept, Acura Alms Race Car Concept, Chevrolet Nonmad, Ford Bronco, Ford Shelby Cobra Roadster Concept, Honda Accord Coupe Concept, Honda Remix, Suzuki Basecamp, and the Suzuki “Hip-Hop.”

At this time, the following pre-production vehicles are scheduled to be on display at the show: Buick Enclave, Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Hydrogen Fuel, Chevrolet Equinox Sport, Dodge Avenger, Ford Escape, Ford Focus, Ford Super Duty, Ford Taurus, Ford Taurus X, Lexus LS 600H, Mercury Sable, Mitsubishi Lancer, Nissan Armada, Nissan Pathfinder, Nissan Rogue and Nissan Titan Long Bed.

As always, the Atlanta event will present many special features for individuals of all ages:

The Amazing Spider-Man will appear at the show on Saturday, March 10, and Sunday, March 11. The world renowned web spinner will meet and greet his many fans from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., and 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. each day.

Wolverine of the X-Men will appear on Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18. His appearance times are from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., and 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. each day.

Scooby-Doo will also return to the Auto Show on Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18.

Chevrolet will bring in NASCAR star Clint Bowyer on Thursday, March 15 at a time to be decided later. The Ford Motor Company will be bringing in Atlanta Falcon football stars for appearances.

The walls of the Georgia World Congress Center will be shaking on Friday, March 16, when Deep South Wrestling presents an evening of entertainment, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Several WWE Superstars will also be on hand to sign autographs, plus appear in ring action.

The Auto Show will once again present a “Work in Progress” display area devoted to restoring, customizing and accessorizing vehicles. There will be many customized cars and trucks displayed within this exhibit, plus custom painting demonstrations daily.

Show attendees will also enjoy The GM Experience on Thursday, March 15 – Sunday, March 18. This attraction will allow individuals the chance to test-drive the hottest GM models and receive a $500 Auto Show Bonus cash coupon plus a free car care kit. Visit the registration desk within the GM auto show floor to sign up! All driver’s must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid drivers license. For your safety, a breathalyzer will be given to all participants.

The Auto Show's annual preview party, “A NIGHT OF CARS & STARS,” is a fund raiser for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and will take place on Friday, March 9 at 7:30 P.M. at the Georgia World Congress Center. This event will give attendees the first opportunity to see hundreds of new vehicles, plus rub elbows with many of Atlanta’s sports and media celebrities.

Admission to the Auto Show is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 6-12 years old. Children under 6 are admitted free. Monday - Thursday weekday discount coupons are available at all participating local new car dealers, and in select ads in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The box office closes one hour prior to the closing time of the show daily.
