ATLANTA —

Snow flurries and sleet were reported throughout metro Atlanta Saturday as the coldest air the area has seen all winter moved in.

Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said to expect lows reaching the teens Sunday morning.

Heavy wind knocked down trees in Atlanta and Gwinnett County, but no injuries or damage to property was reported.

Crews had to be sent out in north Georgia to clear snow from state routes. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, half an inch of snow fell in high elevation areas of Towns and Union counties.

The State Road 180 spur in Towns County is closed until temperatures get above freezing, the DOT said.

Snow flurries were reported as far south as Buckhead on Saturday morning.

Wind chills are expected to be pushed into the single digits on Sunday morning, Nitz said.

A mix of snow and rain is forecast for Tuesday morning, with temperatures warming up to the upper 50s by Wednesday.
