Newfield Named To All-Freshman Second Team

ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia rookie Alexa Newfield was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman Second Team, the organization announced this week. Newfield follows in the footsteps of current teammate Laura Eddy, who was named to the second team in 2009, as well as Kelli Corless, a first team selection back in 2007.

Newfield adds the latest honor to her resume, going along with first team All-SEC, SEC All-Freshman, and second team All-South Region accolades.

The Atlanta native was tied for the Georgia lead in goals with eight in 2010, adding four assists for a team-best 20 points. Her 87 shots established a new Bulldog single-season record.

Newfield helped Georgia to the SEC Championships semifinals with an overall record of 11-6-4.
