WATCH: Chaotic fight forces Alabama mall to close early on Thanksgiving

Hoover police break up a fight between two girls at an Alabama mall Thursday night.

After a fight broke out Thursday at an Alabama mall, shoppers getting a head start had their Black Friday deal-hunting cut short.

The incident happened about 11 p.m. at Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, near Birmingham,AL.com reported.

By 11:30 p.m., the mall was closed by security, the newspaper reported.

Two juvenile girls were caught fighting on video that was shared on social media. Officials said the fight was personal and not related to Black Friday deals, but shoppers who’d hoped to stock up on deals until midnight were disappointed.

While reports of everything from gunfire to arrests were circulating, Hoover police said none of that was true.

Hoover police spokesman Lt. Keith Czeskleba released a statement Friday morning about the fight that said in part, “Approximately one hour prior to the fight call, police received reports of shots being fired outside the mall near the Macy's parking lot. Officers responded and no evidence of gunfire was located. No major incidents were reported at the Galleria or any of the city's other shopping facilities.”

Extra officers were at the mall Friday when stores started opening at 6 a.m.
