ATLANTA — ABC has apparently struck a deal to bring back "American Idol," according to the Chicago Tribune.

The newspaper reports that the production companies behind the reality singing contest show have settled on a "framework for an agreement" to put the show back on the air, possibly on Sunday nights.

The show originally ran for 15 seasons on FOX, ending in April 2016.

"Idol" gave the music world such names as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson.

Several reports say former host, and Dunwoody native, Ryan Seacrest is in consideration to come back as host of the new "Idol."

Seacrest started this week as Kelly Ripa's new co-host on "Live!"

The new "Idol" is said to be slated for a March 2018 debut.
