Man shot outside Target store in Sandy Springs

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Officers are looking for several people involved in a shooting and carjacking in a Sandy Springs parking lot.

Police said the incident started as a drug deal in the Target parking lot on Roswell Road.

Mario Ross, 27, was shot several times, according to police.

Officers say Ross has undergone two surgeries and is in critical but stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Investigators say the perpetrators stole Ross' 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer with Georgia tag No. BNE 7598.

Monday morning, police arrested Ross' friend, Larry Walls, 28. Police said Walls was with Ross and both were part of a drug deal at the shopping center parking lot.

Kristine Coats was leaving the store when she saw the victim slowly headed her way.

“I could see where a bullet had grazed his arm,” she said.

She said she got him to lie on the ground until help could arrive.

“I raised his shirt a little and there was a bullet wound through his back," she said.

Detectives are still working to identify the men who shot Ross.

“It will probably always haunt me for the rest of my life because of the look of fear on his face it something you don't forget," Coats said.
