Mother shot to death outside restaurant

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A mother was shot to death at a restaurant in south Fulton County early Saturday morning.

Fulton County detectives said a fight started inside Al Nopal Mexican restaurant around 4:30 a.m. on Old National Highway. The fight then was moved outside into the parking lot where 31-year-old Tequilla Laye was shot and killed. Police said shots came from a car in the parking lot.

"There were 2-3 shots coming from the car. Not going into the car, but coming from the car, and it took off,” said one witness.

One man, who didn't want to be identified, witnessed the shooting and said his cousin was just trying to break up the fight, yelling for them to stop.

"Got in the car, everybody still trying to get to ... Got in car and went, ‘pow, pow, pow,’ went to shoot," the witness said.

The man said the large crowd took cover as the bullets flew.

“Everybody got up off the ground, she was the only one still lying there, lying there bleeding," the witness said.

Other family members came to the scene, still in disbelief. They said the young woman was a mother.

"That's what's hurting me right now. Don't know what to tell her kids, her mom," the witness said.

Police are searching for two suspect who drove a gray Pontiac Grand Am, with a broken front passenger’s door window. The two men are described as medium height and weight, and appeared to be 20 to 23 years of age. One was described as having long dread hair while the other had a short afro hair style.

Anyone who can identify the individuals is requested to contact police.
