ATLANTA — A 58-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car early Thursday afternoon while she was standing at a MARTA bus stop in southeast Atlanta.
Police said Chaltu Ahmed was driving a Honda Civic and lost control of the car when she tried to make a stop at the intersection of Pryor Road and Amal Drive.
The victim, Annie Cole, was standing on the sidewalk when the Honda Civic jumped the curb and hit her, police said.
Witnesses said the victim was carried a short distance before falling off the vehicle.

The Honda Civic continued moving and hit a tree before crashing into a porch.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witness Ronald Mitchell told Channel 2 Action News that he had a brief conversation with the victim at the bus stop on Amal Drive.
Mitchell said the driver jumped out of her car.
"She was completely hysterical. She went into a plethora of prayers and gods and things, and she tried to turn the body over and I told her to stop doing that, just calm down. She was going crazy," Mitchell said.
Police said Ahmed is was praying when officers arrived.
