LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Gwinnett County authorities are investigating after a woman says she left her pit bull with a dog trainer she found on Craigslist, and now her pet is missing.

Elizabeth Ingram said she responded to a post on the classifieds website from a woman who said she could help train her pit bull. Ingram said she was desperate to train her dog, and not as cautious as she normally would have been

Ingram said she did not even go inside the home where she left her dog, Stella. Authorities told Channel 2’s Eric Philips that some utilities at the home have been cut and the couple inside is in the process of being evicted.

“She’s my baby. Everything to my husband and I,” Ingram said. “We have no idea where she is.”

Ingram said Stella attacked one of her other dogs last month, and she wanted to find someone who could help Stella work through her issues. When she saw the ad listed by Brooke Brovich, she saw a potential solution and dropped Stella off at Brovich’s Lawrenceville home.

Days after dropping Stella off, Ingram said Brovich told her she had given the dog to her sister in Alabama, but then eventually admitted that Stella had run away.

“When my husband came out that morning, she ran right between his legs and he jumped in the car and chased her,” Brovich said.

Ingram has handed out flyers and is offering a $1,000 reward to get Stella back.

“I should have gone with my feelings and known it was Craigslist. I knew it was a mistake,” Ingram said.
