DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. - A woman is facing serious charges after witnesses said she put a small dog in a bag and beat it against a tree in Douglas County.
According to police, 27-year-old Ryeeah Christine Hatcher is facing cruelty to animal charges.
Witnesses said the incident began Monday evening when two dogs chased a cat down Apachee Lane. As the dog owner was searching for the dogs, witnesses said Hatcher, who was riding her bike through the area, grabbed one of the dogs, a Chihuahua mix, put it in a bag and hit it against a tree.
The owner later found the bag and the lifeless dog inside.
Witnesses were able to identify Hatcher and called deputies.
Hatcher is currently being held at the Douglas County Jail on a $12,000 bond.
