Winning $1M Powerball ticket sold in Atlanta

ATLANTA — A Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Atlanta, but no one has claimed the prize yet.

The winning Georgia Lottery ticket was sold at the Roswell Road Amaco. The winning numbers from the Saturday drawing were 3-23-48-54-55 and the Powerball was 5.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.

The next Powerball drawing will be held Wednesday night and aired on WSB-TV before Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat. Wednesday's jackpot is at an estimated $165 million to a single annuity winner.
