Widow pleads for answers in DeKalb shooting

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a man visiting friends.

Chieck Coulibaly, 36, walked through the door of a home on Whispering Hills Drive and collapsed, his wife told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri.

"I heard a scuffle, I never heard a voice or anything," Alexis Coulibaly said. "And then I heard gunshots."

Coulibaly said she and her husband are from Maryland and have been staying with friends. She heard her husband come through the door, "then he came in the room and said 'Call 911. Somebody shot me.'"

Coulibaly told Napier Viteri she can't think of any reason someone would want to hurt her husband. She described him as a beautiful person, giving and full of life.

The couple married in May and Coulibaly said they were planning to move to Atlanta.

Through tears she pleaded for information about his death.

"Please come forward. I don't know who killed my husband. I just want to know why they would do something like this," Coulibaly said.

DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said investigators are looking into strong leads.

"At this point there has been no clear motive for this shooting. Nor have our detectives been able to identify any suspects," she said.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
