GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Police from several metro Atlanta law enforcement agencies believe they are looking for the same woman stealing wallets and purses from hospital employees.
In many cases, the employees don't notice anything is missing for several hours. Police said by then, the damage is done.
"When they called the credit card companies, that's how they were aware that their cards were used,” said Snellville police Detective Orlando Concepcion.
Concepcion said the thief first tests the credit cards by buying something small. When that purchase goes through, she ups the ante to iPads and even televisions.
Snellville police are investigating two cases of theft that occurred in March at Eastside Medical Center. Police said surveillance video shows a woman shopping on someone else's dime inside the Snellville Target. They believe a male accomplice is her lookout and drives the getaway car, a small black sedan.
Investigators believe the same duo hit the Joan Glancy Rehab Center in Duluth, Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell and the Atlanta VA Medical Center.
Investigators said the hospitals can be easy targets because of all the foot traffic.
"They can blend in with possible visitors of patients,” Concepcion said.
If you have any information, call Snellville police. Investigators believe with a name, they can close several cases.
