UGA student's death ruled suicide

ATHENS, Ga. — The Chief Medical Examiner of Georgia released the cause of death for a University of Georgia student Rebecca Greene.

The report listed Greene's death as suicide, caused by hypothermia. Dr. Kris Sperry said Greene intentionally consumed very large quantities of Benadryl and then inadvertently fell into a cold stream. Her face and head were not covered by the water, and she did not drown.

Greene's body was found by an Athens-Clarke County police officer in a stream off of The Plaza in Athens on Nov. 19. She was reported missing the day before.
