Uber drives usher Walter Banks to Opening Day at SunTrust Park (VIDEO)

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Atlanta Braves announced in Nov. 2016 that they had partnered with Uber to provide longtime usher Walter Banks with free rides to and from SunTrust Park so he can continue greeting Braves fans.

As promised, that tradition began yesterday on Opening Day!

Banks has been an usher for the Braves dating back to their first year at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in 1966.

Banks, who lives in the Cascade Road area in Fulton County, was worried about how he'd go to the games once the stadium was moved.

“Walter’s unwavering presence and love for the Atlanta Braves has not gone unnoticed,” said Terry McGuirk, Braves Chairman and CEO. “I cannot imagine a Braves game without him. We’re so grateful that Uber was able to make sure Walter continues to be a meaningful part of Braves game days.”
