Two tickets matched all five numbers and the Powerball for Wednesday night’s record-breaking jackpot of nearly $580 million.
Thirty-two tickets matched five numbers, for a prize of $1 million, or $2 million for those who purchased the more expensive Power Play option.
One of the $1 million tickets was sold in Georgia to Riverdale resident David Jackson, according to a Georgia Lottery news release. He bought it at the Georgia Food Mart on Highway 138 in Riverdale.
Thirty-three Georgia players also won $10,000 prizes, and numerous others in the state won prizes ranging from $4 to $200.
Thousands of Alabamans flooded into Georgia to buy their shot at the jackpot, because Alabama does not offer lottery games. They joined many more Georgians flocking to convenience stores before the drawing.
Ticket sales in Georgia raised $13.8 billion for Georgia Lottery-funded HOPE scholarship and Pre-K programs.
The current Powerball jackpot is at $40 million.
