Two teen girls injured in hit-and-run

ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News spoke to the grandmother of a girl who was hit while walking with her friends in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police are searching for the driver, accused of hitting 15-year-old Mariah Key and two other girls on Emerald Avenue Friday night.

One of the three girls struck by the car told police a silver, four-door car hit them. The victim said she saw the driver get out of the car, look at them and then take off.

Key's grandmother said she is in disbelief at the driver's actions.

"I just don't understand how someone could hit these children and not know that you've hit someone," said Sheryl Dowdell.

The grandmother said Key is in stable condition and 14-year-old Dajah Malcolm suffered serious injuries.
