FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - Crews are preparing to close two lanes of Interstate 285 as crews work to make unexpected repairs.
Two right lanes of I-285 south at Campbellton Road is expected to be closed until 6 p.m. Thursday. Work began at 5 a.m.
The Georgia Department of Transportation said it is unsure of the specific cause of the damage other than the result of heavy use. The area was scheduled for a rehab project in 2014.
GDOT said crews went to the area Wednesday to fill a pothole and found significant deterioration to the concrete slabs. Repairs had to be made for safety reasons, GDOT said.
