Tropical depression forms off Atlantic coast

ATLANTA — The National Hurricane Center says a tropical depression has formed off the Atlantic coast and it's destined to ruin Memorial Day weekend plans for some.

The tropical depression is located about 400 miles southeast of Charleston, South Carolina.

An Air Force hurricane hunter aircraft flew into the storm on Friday afternoon.

A tropical storm warning has been issued for the entire South Carolina coast from Georgia to North Carolina.

"If it becomes a tropical storm, and that's expected Saturday, it would be Tropical Storm Bonnie," Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

The storm is expected to make landfall north of Charleston on Sunday before weakening and moving north.
