ATLANTA, Ga. - Severe Weather Team 2 says conditions have cleared up after Saturday morning's powerful line of storms slammed metro Atlanta and north Georgia.
The fast-moving system produced high winds, lightning and heavy rain that brought down trees, creating threatening conditions for residents.
Minute by minute in extended Severe Weather Team 2 coverage, meteorologists David Chandley and Brad Nitz traced the storm's chaotic path. A team of Channel 2 Action News reporters were dispatched across the metro area to cover the damage.
Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach tracked live updates during the frightening rescue of a 14-year-old girl trapped by a tree in a mobile home park on Poplar Valley Road in Cherokee County. Reporters are now checking out neighborhoods inconvenienced by fallen trees and flooded roads.
