MABLETON, Ga. — A 3-year-old child is in critical condition after falling three stories out a window.
Cobb County police said the toddler fell out a second-floor window, but the home has a drive-under garage/basement and the child fell on the concrete driveway below. The home's windows were open amid the hot temperatures.
The incident happened at a home on Megcole Way in Mableton late Thursday morning, investigators said. Police said said a teenage sibling was watching the toddler when the child got on a chair and fell out the window.
Police said the toddler was airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Neighbors said the family moved into the home a few months ago.
"I can't help but assume, being a parent myself, that they're grieving, they're hurting right now," neighbor Willie Miller said.
