Updated:FULTON COUNTY, Ga. —
Police are looking for the four men who destroyed a Fulton County storefront in a dramatic smash-and-grab.
Police said the men were trying to get the store's ATM at the BP located on Fulton Industrial Boulevard near Interstate 20. After causing the damage, they couldn't get it. The ATM was bolted down to the floor.
Witnesses said two men backed a white Toyota Tacoma truck into the store. But they didn't break through on the first try, so they pulled forward and tried again and again. Then the men shattered the entire glass front of the BP.
A clerk and a customer were inside when the incident happened. The customer was getting his morning coffee when he heard the first thud.
"We both looked and we saw the truck and go in reverse and hit the store again, pulled forward again and I screamed to the employee, 'They robbing us,'" said customer Steven Cohen. "I ducked behind the chips, made my way to the cooler, pried open the cooler and laid down on the floor and called my wife."
Both Cohen and the clerk were unharmed in the incident.
Down the street, officers recovered a white van at Langhorn and I-20. Police suspect the men ditched it and all four people involved escaped in the white pickup truck.
Fulton County police hope to recover the surveillance tape from the store.
