Teen injured in drive-by shooting in Cobb County

COBB COUNTY — Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that injured a 19-year-old inside a Cobb County home.

The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. near Hall Drive and Floyd Drive in Smyrna.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington spoke to the mother of the victim who told her someone sprayed bullets through the front of her home, hitting her son in the leg.

“I didn’t hear any shot. All I know is my son ran in my room and said, ‘Mom, I’ve been shot,’ and he had blood all over him,” Claire George said.

The teen is expected to be OK, but police are searching for the shooter.

We’re learning if the shooter may have targeted the wrong house, for Channel 2 Action News starting at 4 p.m.

George said she has no known enemies.

In all, four people were sleeping inside, including a child, when the bullets rang out.

A neighbor said he heard several shots.

“I heard some sounds like backfiring. It was like four pops one after the other,” Mike Wear said.

George had this message for the shooter and anyone with information.

“If anybody knows who did this, please, y’all putting lives at stake. Turn yourself in or tell the police what’s going on why y’all did it, because I want to know what’s going on because I don’t feel safe, I’ve got to move now,” George said.
